Jim Lupton is an accomplished Criminal Defense attorney and formerly a successful local prosecutor. He is the only private criminal defense attorney in Carteret County both certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a State Criminal Law Specialist (Credentials) and recognized as an AV Preeminent Peer Rated Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell (Credentials), which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.

He received his B.S., cum laude from Wake Forest University in 1987 and his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1992.
